It's our goal to give young folks the opportunity to have their voices heard and make new friends in a safe and female-positive environment.

Summer Intensive

A 5-week holistic program centering the authentic self and personal voice, through expressive writing, collaborative creations, and communal cooking.  Middle school is a hard time to feel security in self and confidence among peers.  That's why we created the Summer Intensive, to strengthen confidence and personal voice, as well as collective collaboration and acceptance. The Summer Intensive

“she crew is life. I feel like I can take on the world now.”

--lehla, age 14

concludes with a participant written and performed piece as a representation of their work over. Come break bread with us!

SHE CAST: The Podcast

SHE CAST is an intersectional feminist podcast, made for youth by youth.  Teen girls and gender minorities are huge consumers of media, but when are they ever the creators of the media they consume?  At SHE CAST, participants create and host their own podcast covering issues they care about. Everything from mental health to comic books, to local politics and systemic inequalities.  SHE CAST is recorded throughout the school year with youth from all over Chicago.  Subscribe to SHE CAST where ever you get your podcast!

Student-to-Intern Growth Program & Youth Instructor Opportunities

{she crew} provides Internship and Youth Instructor positions for Summer Intensive alumni who are in upper high school or beyond. Both positions are paid because no one should be expected to work for free.  Interns are provided an education in curriculum development, leadership and an introduction into direction and production.   Youth Instructors work with an adult instructor who will help them deepen their curriculum development skills, leadership in the classroom, as well as how to make the {she crew} method their own.
